Menopause Case Study
The Orpington Primary Care Network (PCN) implemented online group clinics to support individuals experiencing menopause. Driven by high demand and a specialist GP, these 90-minute sessions, facilitated by a care coordinator and featuring a menopause clinician, offer a structured environment for peer support and personalised care. Patients complete pre-clinic assessments, including blood pressure and symptom checkers, to optimise appointment efficiency. The clinics have demonstrated positive outcomes, including improved blood pressure, BMI, increased uptake of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), and a reduction in referrals to secondary care, alongside freeing up individual appointments. The PCN highlights the psychosocial benefits, such as improved personal relationships and a sense of hope among participants, as well as increased job satisfaction among clinic staff.
